| URI offers a number of clinical learning opportunities
that allow F&ES students to gain real-world practice in their field.
Listening to local concerns and developing environmental programs in
cooperation with schools, neighborhood groups, and city agencies are
the cornerstones of our work. Through these programs F&ES students
can apply theory learned in the classroom with supervised clinical
training to enrich their academic work while making a real contribution
to the New Haven community.
URI offers paid internships each year in community-based forestry and environmental education. Internships are awarded primarily to graduate students. Community forestry internships are available in the summer through our Community Greenspace program. In the academic year, environmental education internships are available through our Open Spaces as Learning Places program. Additional intern projects have been proposed and designed by students in cooperation with the Director; please contact URI for more details. URI is now accepting applicants for the 2008 Community Forestry Summer Internship. Click here to read about the current work of former interns.
