I. Photo exhibit for Children’s Week – Gabriel.diaz at yale.edu
- photo mosaic idea = too much work
- Just show photos
- Need: good paper, mounted, matted, different angles, dramatic lighting, don’t put subject in middle all the time
- Printing – digital media services (can give tutorial on photoshop, etc), Davenport, Silliman
- Paper – semi-gloss or matte (Ilfole, smooth pearl), 10/sheet, 100 photos - $150 – ask Sudler
- Size – 8x10 or 13x20, text engaging, so can be smaller
- Photographers to talk to – YDN Ryan Galisewsk?, Viewfinder magazine
II. Berkeley College Orchestra – will come to Headstart presentations
III. Current event – Nikki
- Iraq – back to school not going well, only 40% passed test while only 28% took it. Kids can’t go to school, so UNICEF handing out educational packets.
IV. Paul Ruditskara – Rwanda speaker
- Ideas to host him?
a) Trumbull Fellow’s lounge – powerpoint capability, attached to dining hall – Roshan will ask
V. Dwight Hall phone-a-thon – October 22, Monday
- a must to be Dwight Hall organization, recruit donations!
VI. Ariane Kirtley – coming Oct 15.
- Amaan Imaan – Water for Life
- Fulbright fellow
VII. Yule Ball – Shejuti – thanks for doing the UOFC application!!!
- Collaborating with YAG, Ballroom dance team, Carolleanears (spelled way wrong, they play Harkness tower bells)
- Be nice to UOFC boardmembers!
VIII. New members –

IX. Headstart – Pamela.shen at yale.edu
- Thursday, 8:30-9:30
- Bring bottles so kids can make instruments with rice and beans!
- Meet at 8:15
X. Distressed Children International – Brian Wayda
- Sun-child sponsorship program – send money to rural children in Bangladesh to keep them out of child labor
a) Mostly donations, but now want to create relationships between donors and children
b) Adults wouldn’t benefit from relationship
c) New idea – create relationships between schools in New Haven and Bangladesh
1. give kids presentations about Bangladesh
2. monthly pen pal letters
3. anyone interested in being a liaison? Go to class once a month to do presentation and collect letters
d)Awareness concert at end of month – can volunteer on day of
- extensive network in Bangladesh
a) want structural changes in villages like developing sustainable health, income, economy
- Good experience in grant-writing
- General volunteer – many different tasks, including editing brochures
- Dr. Esan Hawk – head, likes to talk
XI. Raffie – called Roshan!
- Doesn’t want a concert, would rather have master’s tea, then talk at night where he can sing to his CD
