Our services
Athletic Medicine Clinic is exclusively for intercollegiate varsity athletes who become injured or ill. If an injury or illness should develop while you're practicing or playing, you should advise your athletic trainer so that appropriate medical follow-up can be arranged. Treatment programs are designed to return athletes to full competition as soon as safely possible. However, it is expected that athletes will adhere to the prescribed therapy to facilitate this goal.
- Medical Clearance
A review of the medical history on all varsity intercollegiate athletes will be performed in the pre-season with some athletes requiring further evaluations. - Sports Nutritionist
Appointments with a sports nutritionist are also available; please call 432-0334 to schedule. - Injury Surveillance
Records are kept on all known injuries and then compared to NCAA statistics to determine unusual frequency in a specific sport. If found, preventive intervention is instituted. - Restriction From Participation
Athletes who are injured or have chronic illnesses that can adversely affect their participation in a specific sport will be restricted from play. A disability list of injured athletes who are restricted is distributed daily to the trainers. At that time activities may be limited and rehabilitation programs are instituted. - Control of Infectious Diseases
The Athletic Medicine Department monitors outbreaks of infectious disease on teams and institutes preventive measures. - Game Coverage
A Clinician attends sporting events where there is a high incidence of contact injuries. These include football, soccer (men and women), ice hockey (men and women), field hockey and lacrosse (men and women).
