Clinical Services
- Evaluation
From one to six sessions, to determine the existence or extent of problems related to alcohol or drug use and to determine what type of help might be indicated. - Intervention
A structured process which provides education and support for the family and concerned friends of an active alcoholic or drug dependent person, which may simultaneously motivate the alcoholic or drug user to get help. - Referrals
When appropriate, YHP members of the faculty and staff groups will be referred for medical and psychiatric consultation. At times, referrals may be made for outpatient counseling, or for inpatient or partial hospitalization programs. Please consult member handbooks for more details. - Short Term Counseling
Brief therapeutic interaction with staff, focused on acute distress related to alcohol or drug use, which can involve both short term problem solving and planning for longer term prevention. - Limited Therapy
For Yale students, ongoing counseling to address emotional and psychological factors associated with substance abuse is available. The student may also wish to explore how one may have been affected by the substance abuse of another.
