Claire Berry

Claire is a senior who hails from Nashville, Tennessee. Because she comes from country music's motherland, she likes to think she legitimizes TUIB's whole operation. She likes eating hummus, drinking tea and whiskey (usually separately), playing charades, ripping off Gillian Welch's fashion choices, hanging around the house in her muumuu, laughing at her own jokes, snuggling with TUIB, and sleeping through important things. She prefers not to eat olives or wear high heels.

Jacob Eigen

This photograph is a perfect representation of Jacob Eigen. Shortly before it was taken he convinced a six-year-old girl to trade him her cowboy hat for a piece of wood that sort of looked like a gun. When she pretended to shoot her eight-year-old sister, her mother took it from her and said "Emily, where'd you find this?" "I traded Jacob for it," she said. "And he taught me how to shoot it, too." Trader of imaginary weapons, doer of evil and corrupter of the youth, Jacob's essence is captured by the awkward position of his left hand in this photograph. Neither tense nor relaxed, it handles his paunch as a trained marksman might handle the body of a beast he has not properly killed. Emily herself put it best: "He didn't even tell me how to shoot it right. I shot Katie three times and she didn't die once."

Jamie Kallestad

Do You Want to Know a Secret?  Jamie Kallestad was born Across the Universe in the far north country of Cloquet, Minnesota.  Raised as Mother Nature's Son, he eventually left the land of Idiot Winds and Purple Rain for the east coast.  At Yale, Jamie was soon Working Day and Night--Eight Days a Week.  He felt like a Nowhere Man in the eye of a Hurricane.  Fortunately, Jamie found Shelter From the Storm when he joined Tangled up in Blue that fall. Today, he continues to follow The Long and Winding Road into the New Morning. The End.

David Leigh

David is a junior from folk music's heartland: New York! When not singing with TUIB, he spends his time being made largely out of  stainless steel (no joke), seeking out good acoustics in unexpected  places, shunning equal temperament, having a TUIB member picture that is remarkably similar in concept to Jamie's, and making really low-pitched noises (he likes doing this when singing with TUIB as well).  He does not like cheese, but is hoping the rest of TUIB won't notice...

David Mackenzie

Born to a piano teacher and a theoretical physicist, and raised in the tranquil suburban town of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, David has been exploring the world of music since a young age. His first musical memory is figuring out the difference between rhythm and melody while banging away at a piano. As a senior at Yale he spends his time trying to figure out how the human mind works, eating dried cranberries, reading the featured article on Wikipedia, trying to remember the chords and lyrics to TUIB songs, and not taking morning classes. David is deeply in love with TUIB and lists their performances and hangouts as some of his all time favorite college memories. He would also like to thank TUIB for allowing him to improve his singing, learn the banjo, and practice his webpage making skills.

Lauren Pippin

Lauren, like Kanye West, the Belushi brothers, and deep dish pizza, is an export of the greatest city in the world: Chicago. When she grows up she wants to be a rock star or a veterinarian, or maybe even both. She likes being outside, TUIB, her dog, and her eggs over easy. Lauren, already in her sophomore year, has never had the chicken pox, but don't worry, her vaccinations are up to date.

Greta Stetson

Being from Dallas, Texas, Greta Stetson really wishes that she were actually related to the Stetsons (meaning the makers of Stetson cowboy hats) because that would be very fitting. Unfortunately, she doesn't even own a cowboy hat. She realizes that there is also a Stetson cologne, but she thinks she already smells pretty good. Actually, her last name is just an Americanization of the name Stunkel, which is German. As far as Greta knows, TUIB doesn't sing German folk music.

Liz Sutton-Stone

Liz came to TUIB terrified to sing outside of the inner sanctum of her shower, and poorly versed in Folk music. But it’s given her a place to be still and to forget about the thorns and dangers of this world. Her favorite song is Stewball...
...but not really.

Brendan Ternus

Considering Brendan's fondness for trains, small towns, and lamplit corners – as well as his aversion to coal mining as a career choice, jailhouses, and Richard Nixon, he could practically be a folk song in and of himself. That said, given his other proclivities, he could also be a harpooner aboard the Pequod, a #2 pencil, or a dalmation on a fire truck. Brendan first heard about TUIB while eating a quesadilla full of salsa. It sounded just as wonderful as that quesadilla tasted. He tries not to think about what would have happened if it had been anything less than delicious.

Charles Zhu

Charles enjoys facts about alligators and their mating habits. NICE!
