The next opera in this year's Trumbull series subscription to the Metropolitan Opera will be on WEDNESDAY, MARCH 25. We will leave Trumbull PROMPTLY at 4:00 p.m. The cost is $15.00, including dinner.
The opera is Wagner's "Das Rheingold". This is the first opera in Wagner's four-opera Ring cycle – The Ring of the Nibelungen. This performance is the season premiere for the opera (the complete Ring cycle follows later in the month). Based on German mythology, the opera traverses the realm of nymphs, dwarves, gods and giants. The production by Otto Schenk has received much acclaim. And, best of all, the Met's Music Director, James Levine, is conducting. It should be quite an evening!
If you would like to attend, please submit your name to Prof. Henrich by e-mail BEFORE 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 22. Names will be selected by RANDOM DRAWING and the students notified Sunday evening or Monday.
