1.  Fellows Meeting Invitation – 2/12/09

Dear Trumbull College students:

The Trumbull College Fellows will be meeting again on Thursday, February 12, 2009, in the Fellows Lounge, entryway K, second floor.

The guest speaker for this meeting is Ms. Joanne Rudof, the archivist of the Fortunoff Video Archive for Holocaust Testimonies (VAHT) here at Yale.  If you are interested in learning more about the VAHT prior to attending this presentation, its website is found at http://www.library.yale.edu/testimonies/

Ms. Rudof will be talking about the history of the VAHT, its outreach to various communities, and its participation in documenting the holocaust, both locally and internationally.

As in the past, up to ten (10) Trumbull College students are invited to join the Fellows for this talk.  If you are interested in attending, please email me at william.massa@yale.edu no later than Wednesday, February 11, 2009, by 12:00 noon.  If you find out later that you are unable to attend, please email me immediately so that I can invite any students on the wait list.  We can only accommodate ten students so the first ten who respond will be invited.  As soon as I read your email, I will respond to it.

Remember, do not respond to the Master's Office but email william.massa@yale.edu

Sincerely,

Bill Massa

Trumbull College Executive Fellow

2.  Fellowship Information Session w/ Food Thursday

When: Next Thursday 2/12 at 9:30pm

Where: in TC's Farr room (2nd floor of entryway K)

You have heard of the Rhodes, Marshall, Gates, and Fulbright Scholarships. But have you ever thought about applying for those or other competitive fellowships? Come to a study break with TC graduate affiliates and learn the basics of fellowship application timing, requirements and strategy. Participating graduate affiliates include:

Chesa Boudin (TC 2003) is a first-year student at Yale Law School.

While an undergraduate at Yale, Chesa won the Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholarship, the Goldman Sachs Global Leaders fellowship, the Marshall Scholarship, and the Rhodes Scholarship.

Robin Rotman is a third-year student at Yale Law School, focusing on environmental law. Before coming to Yale Robin was a Rhodes Scholar and studied geology and hydrology at Oxford.

Jeremy Kessler (TC '06) is a first year student at the Yale Law School. Between college and law school, Jeremy studied the history and philosophy of science at King's College, Cambridge, on a Gates Scholarship.

3.  Call for a Design Editor and Submissions for TC Lit Mag

Trumbull’s very own literary magazine, By the Horns, is back under a new name and new management! We are in need of a design editor who likes to play with color, fonts, and creative white space. We are also in need of submissions! Lots and lots of literary submissions! Send whatever essays, poems, short stories, vignettes, sketches you wish—all are welcome. There is no limit on the number of submissions though the word limit for any one submission should not exceed 10,000 words. While we are not operating on a set theme, works of historical fiction, life at Yale, or the color green may be viewed with particular favor, but the topic is free. If interested in design editing or to send submissions, please direct an email to bythehorns.submissions@gmail.com. Deadline for submissions is March 6th 2009, the last day before spring break.

4.  Trumbull Has An Art Studio!

Want to get creative with paint and pencils?  The Trumbull Art Space is a room open to all Trumbull students, and it's filled with all the supplies that you need for artistic projects and homework.  The Art Space is next to the Laundry Room, in the basement; in order to use it, you must get a key from the Master's Office.  Questions and requests for more supplies can be directed to the Art Room Aide, Dounia Bredes (dounia.bredes@yale.edu).
