2. Fellows Meeting Thursday
September 22, 2008
Dear Trumbull College students,
The Trumbull College Fellows invite you to attend their meeting this Thursday, September 25, 2008, in the Fellows Lounge (entry way K, second floor). Our program begin will begin at 7:15 PM in the Lounge. If you are interested in attending, please email me at william.massa@yale.edu no later than this Wednesday, September 24, 2008, by 12:00 noon. If you find out later that you are unable to attend, please email me immediately so that I can invite any students on the wait list. We can only accommodate ten students so the first ten who respond will be invited. As soon as I receive your email, I will respond to it.
The presentation for this meeting will be six Trumbull College seniors who were awarded a Class of 1955 travel fellowship for this past summer. These travel grants are limited to rising seniors in Trumbull College. The fellowship program is designed "to encourage students to undertake a project or service, as much as possible unrelated to their course work, by which they will expand their horizons into an area unfamiliar and personally challenging."
The recipients from the Class of 2009 are:
Alex Kain-- to Spain for immersion and work with publication of a Spanish magazine
Shana Kieran--to Cairo to learn about Muslim culture and how it affects women there
Sophie Cooper--to Tanzania to work with orphaned boys and then publish a book about the experience
J.T. Kennedy--to Cairo to learn about the economy there and about cultural aspects
Sara Rahman--to Bangladesh to investigate clothing factories and other sources as suppliers for a possible business in the United States
Roshan Sethi--to Washington, DC, for an internship in the Surgeon General's office
Remember, do not respond to the Master's Office but email william.massa@yale.edu
The Fellows, some of whom were or are your freshmen advisors, look forward to having you join them. And if you are unable to attend this Fellows meetings, there will be other opportunities throughout this academic year.
Sincerely,
Bill Massa
