Trumbull Announcements - November 29, 2007

TC ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

Please remember that the deadlines for submitting announcements for email

distribution by the Master's Office are Mondays at 12:00 noon for Monday

afternoon distribution and Thursdays at 12:00 noon for Thursday afternoon

distribution. Sorry, but emails will not be sent to all Trumbullians

outside these designated times, so please plan ahead. You may send your

announcement to tcadmin@yale.edu.

If you have removed a book from the Trumbull Library, please bring it 

back so that it can be shared with the rest of the Trumbull community.

 

Remember that Trumbull has a non-circulating collection, so please

A specialist in US-Egypt affairs, he is principal political advisor to the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs.  A career diplomat, he previously served as a political officer in the Egyptian Embassy in Washington, D.C.

3.  Gallery Exhibit Opening Saturday

 

David Kohn TC'10, David Pratt-Robson TC'09 and Andy Wagner SY'09 showcase their

photography from their travels in a Trumbull Sudler show in the Trumbull

Gallery. The show will open Saturday December 1st at 4:30, viewing hours for

later in the week will be posted. All are welcome.

 

 

4.  Bellini’s "Norma" at the Metropolitan Opera

DEADLINE to apply:  4:00 p.m. SUNDAY, DECEMBER 2.

The next opera in this year's Trumbull series subscription to the Metropolitan Opera will be next TUESDAY, DECEMBER 4.  We will leave Trumbull PROMPTLY at 4:00 p.m.  The cost is $15.00, including dinner.

Please CHECK YOUR SCHEDULE before you respond to make certain that you can go if you are selected.     

The opera is "Norma", the greatest work of Vincenzo Bellini, the master of the Italian bel canto ("beautiful singing") style of the early nineteenth century ("Norma" premiered in 1831).  Bellini was "obsessed with melody".*  Verdi was a great admirer of the "long, long melodies [of incomparable elegance] such as no one before has written" of "Norma" and Bellini's other operas.  Maria Guleghina sings the title role, also with Dolora Zajick.

If you would like to attend, please submit your name to Prof. Henrich by e-mail BEFORE 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 2.  Names will be selected by RANDOM DRAWING and the students notified later Sunday evening.

5.  Nets vs Rockets December 7th

 

Sign up now for a ticket and to reserve a seat on the bus to see the New Jersey Nets vs Houston Rockets basketball game at the IZOD Center on Friday, December 7th at 7:30 p.m.  The bus leaves TC at 4:30 p.m. to arrive arena by 7:00 p.m.  Trumbull students pay only $15.00 at time of sign up.  Please do not sign up until you can pay your $15.00 or provide your Bursar Billing Number.

Lost: Blue Brooks Brother's blazer with gold buttons and a pack of green Stride gum in the inner pocket.

 

LOST:  black Dell laptop charger left in basement or tv room  email sitagaki@sbcglobal.net

 

Found: Black blazer with 2 gold buttons and an Italian label "Angelico" and a purple/maroon yamaka.

 

The Master’s Office has a variety of items that were found around Trumbull.  Check the list in case if what you lost was turned in to the office.
