Friday classes (not Monday classes) will meet on Monday, April 27, the last day of classes.

"Faith and Globalization" Seminar From now until May 1, applications are being accepted for the Fall 2009 "Faith and Globalization" Seminar to be co-taught by Howland Fellow Tony Blair, Yale Divinity School Professor Miroslav Volf, and School of Management Professor Doug Rae. Students may apply online by following this link: http://www.yale.edu/sis/sfg. Twenty-five students will be admitted to the course, which will survey how the forces of faith and globalization can and do affect various contemporary issues like secularization, violence, poverty, corporate governance, human rights, and democracy. Further information about the course is available at the application site.

Those who interested in these and related themes will find a wealth of multimedia resources at Yale's Faith and Globalization website: http://faithandglobalization.yale.edu. Among the articles, lectures, interviews, and bibliographies on the site, there is footage from the Fall 2008 seminar on "Faith and Globalization."

FRESHMEN

Selecting a Sophomore Year Adviser: Selecting an adviser is not selecting a major, although selecting an adviser in a possible major could make sense.  It also makes sense to select a faculty member with whom you would be comfortable to talk to about your short and long term academic and other plans, regardless of the department.  If you would appreciate some help in thinking about an adviser for you next year, come see me and we can talk it over.

SOPHOMORES

Information Meetings about Majoring in PhilosophyThe DUS of Philosophy, Kenneth Winkler, will conduct an information meeting for new and prospective majors on Thursday, April 23 at 7 pm in Connecticut Hall 104.  Students in the major will be there to answer questions.
