FRESHMEN
Selecting a Sophomore Year Adviser 1, MCDB: If you wish a sophomore year adviser from MCDB, the department asks you to contact its undergraduate registrar rather than a faculty member directly. The registrar is Catherine Blackmon, who will serve as the point of first contact for students seeking an adviser; she can recommend appropriate possibilities to students.
Selecting a Sophomore Year Adviser 2: In general: Selecting an adviser is not selecting a major, although selecting an adviser in a possible major could make sense. It also makes sense to select a faculty member with whom you would be comfortable to talk to about your short and long term academic and other plans, regardless of the department. If you would appreciate some help in thinking about an adviser for you next year, come see me or let me know.
