ACADEMICS

Deadline: Monday, March 30: Last day to convert from Credit/D/Fail option in a spring-term course to a letter grade.  The form is available in your TC Dean’s Office.

Reminder:  No credits earned in courses completed on the Credit/D/Fail basis may be used to fulfill any of the distributional requirements for the bachelor’s degree.

FRESHMEN

Selecting a Sophomore Year Adviser:  This week you will receive an email about selecting a faculty adviser for your sophomore year.  Selecting an adviser is not selecting a major, although selecting an adviser in a possible major could make sense.  It does make sense to select a faculty member with whom you would be comfortable to talk to about your short and long term academic and other plans, regardless of the department.  I welcome you to talk to me about that selection; perhaps you would appreciate some help in thinking about an adviser for you next year.

SOPHOMORES

Tentative Program of Study for Your Junior and Senior Years. This week you will receive an email about selecting a faculty member with whom to discuss your tentative course of study for your junior and senior years. Selecting a faculty member for this discussion is not the same as selecting a major, although selecting a faculty member or the DUS in a possible or declared major could make sense.  It does make sense to select a faculty member with whom you would be comfortable to talk about your academic plans and your choice of possible major, regardless of their department.  Your current sophomore year adviser, for instance, is someone to consider.

Deadline:  Friday, April 24 is the deadline to apply for the program in Teacher Preparation and Education Studies.  Further information at www.yale.edu/tprep/tprep/undergraduates/
