Advice: Before midterm, check online the courses you are recorded to be enrolled in. Sometimes a student has forgotten a course enrolled in and, thus, forgets to withdraw from it by the deadline.

SOPHOMORES
The Environmental Studies (EVST) major decided to move up the application deadline for students to apply to the EVST major to March 27, 2009. The department is seeing a lot of interest in the EVST major. By moving up the major application deadline, they will be better able to assess the demand for the major. Also, if the major is capped, they will be able to notify interested sophomores of their decision by April. Application details are available in your TC Dean’s Office.
SENIORS
Senior Interviewer Program in Yale Office of Undergraduate Admissions. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions offers freshman applicants the opportunity to visit campus and have an optional admissions interviews conducted by a Yale undergraduate. Yale seniors are able to contribute to the college community by assisting in the selection of the next in-coming class. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions is now accepting applications for interviewers for summer and fall openings. During the summer, the Senior Interviewer position will be full time, and students must be able to work from early June through late August. The Office anticipates hiring five summer interviewers who will also be responsible for assisting with group information sessions, giving campus tours, scheduling appointments, welcoming visitors in the reception area, and working with Admissions Officers on various projects. The summer position involves extensive public speaking. Interviewers will be paid an hourly wage of at least $12.80 per hour and work 37.5 hours per week.
Admissions also anticipates hiring 10 seniors for the fall to work approximately 10 hours per week. The hourly wage for this position will also be at least $12.80 per hour, and the interviewer’s primary responsibility will be to interview and evaluate prospective applicants. Fall Senior Interviews must be available from early September through mid-November; specific dates and times are agreed upon after the Senior Interviewers finalize their fall class schedules. The deadline for completing the 2009 application is Friday, March 27. All completed applications, along with an unofficial copy of your transcript, should be returned to the receptionist no later than 5:00pm. Yale Summer Session in St. Petersburg, Russia, Russian Language & Culture , RUSS 177 (Group I, L3-L4 or L5) & RUSS 242 (Group I, Hu), Constantine Muravnik, constantine.muravnik@yale.edu , May 30 - July 28, 2009. 3 weeks in New Haven, 5 weeks in St. Petersburg, Russia. Language: An intensive "at-home-and-abroad" course featuring language study at either the second- or third-year level of Russian. Students will enroll in one of two different Russian language courses, one for Second Year and the other for Third Year students. Students receive language training in New Haven, developing skills that are then applied during the second month in Russia. Culture: An interdisciplinary exploration of Russian cultural history through its art, architecture, theater, music, and film. Topics include conceptions of Russian nationhood; myths of St. Petersburg and Moscow; dissent and persecution; elites, intelligentsia, and attitudes toward the common people; conflicting appeals of rationality, spirituality, and idealism; the politicizing of personal life; and effects of Russian artistic innovations worldwide.
