Advice: 
Check the courses on line that the registrar records you are enrolled in.  Perhaps, for instance, you have for some time meant to withdraw from a course and have forgotten.  Perhaps online you are enrolled in a discussion section and have changed sections since then.  If you find any discrepancies, just come by my office to find out how to clear them up.

Academic Deadlines:

October 24:  Midterm.  Last day to withdraw from a fall-term course without having the course appear on the transcript.  Deadline to apply for double credit in a single-credit course.  Withdrawal from Yale College on or before this date entitles a student to a rebate of one-quarter of the term's tuition.

November 7: Last day to convert from CR/D.\/Fail option in a fall term course to a letter grade.

Pre-Medical Registration Meetings: If you plan to enter medical school or another health profession program in Summer or Fall 2010, please attend one of the following mandatory registration meetings which will cover the application process beginning next spring, registration with the Health Professions Advisory Board, establishing a credentials file at Career Services, and much more. There will be ample time for questions. All meetings will be held in Room 369 of UCS

This workshop will discuss how to approach the job search process for nonprofit internship and job positions. The workshop will cover informational interviews, networking, and online resources.

The third annual Yale College Summer Options Mini-Fair will be here in UCS on the first Friday following Thanksgiving break, December 5.  The mini-fair brings most of the Yale-affiliated summer programs into one room so that students can gather information on multiple options at one pass.

FELLOWSHIPS

KIP TIERNAN SOCIAL JUSTICE FELLOWSHIP.  Rosie's Place in Boston, MA, offers a 12-month fellowship, which provides a $40,000 stipend and health benefits and is awarded annually to a woman who will use the funds to develop and carry out an innovative project in New England that will benefit poor and homeless women. Concept papers are due December 1.

International Education Week Photo Contest:  Win a $100 iTunes Gift Card. To celebrate International Education Week 2008 (Nov. 17-21), the Center for International Experience is holding its annual Photo Contest.  The CIE seeks student photos that support the mission of International Education Week -- "to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide." For additional information, see the Photo Contest page of the CIE web site: www.yale.edu/yalecollege/international . Deadline for submissions is 4pm on Wednesday, November 12, 2008. Selected photos will be displayed on-campus and on the CIE web site. Contest winners will be notified via email and announced on the web site on Monday, November 17th.
