RETURNING GOODS TO THE CENTRAL STOCKROOM

The Return Material Order is used to return items to the Central Stockroom that were sent to you as ordered. If the item you received is not what you ordered, call the Central Stockroom at Ext. 4-9308, we will make the exchange at no cost. DO NOT use the RMO procedures.

To return an item, as ordered, back to the Central Stockroom complete a Return Material Order form, attach a photo copy of the original Stock Request the material was ordered on and FAX it to (76)4-9312 or send it to: Central Stores, 100 John Murphy Drive via Campus Mail. The Stockroom will review the RMO and make arrangements to pick up the item(s). Quantities smaller than current unit of issue can not be returned. Likewise, certain fragile items, discontinued items, items with a limited life span (such as toners), and items held over a reasonable period of time can not be returned.

There will be a 15% restocking charge on all returns to the Stockroom, with a minimum of $15.00 per RMO (except in the case of a verifiable stockroom error).

Important Notes:

  • Enter the "Central Stockroom" name in Item #2 and original Stock Request form number in Item #3.
  • If a replacement is desired, a separate Stock Request must be issued as replacements cannot be processed on the RMO.
  • Fax the completed RMO to the Central Stockroom at 4-9312.   The Central Stockroom will arrange for the pick up of the material. Do NOT send the items directly to the Central Stockroom. Do not send copies of the form to Purchasing.
  • Make two copies of the RMO:  keep one for your department account file and attach the other to the package.

NOTE: These procedures apply only to the Central Stockroom. The Central Stockroom is not responsible for materials or credits if the procedures are not followed exactly. For all other returns to outside vendors contact Purchasing directly. For returns to other Yale stockrooms, contact the stockroom where the goods were purchased.
