New Haven is served by two beautiful train stations:

Union Station and State Street Station

New London

Shoreline East provides fast and easy transportation between New London and New Haven. Shoreline East offers monthly and 10-trip passes. See below for transportation information to the train stations.

Service from the West...
New York City

Metro North offers train transportation to and from New Haven to New York City with stops in between. Metro North offers monthly and 10-trip passes. See below for transportation information to the train stations.

Service from the North and more...
Vermont, Boston and Washington, D.C.

Amtrak provides train service between Vermont and New Haven. Additionally, Amtrak provides train access between Boston and Washington, D.C. at prices that are competitive with air travel. Amtrak offers monthly and 10-trip tickets pass. Check out a Sample Schedule - Northeast Corridor 3.

Transportation between New Haven Train Stations and Campus

There are multiple options for getting to campus from the train station depending on your destination.

For Hospital and Medical Campus Destinations

The Yale Shuttle and the Yale New Haven Hospital Shuttle provide service between Union Station and Hospital and Medical campus destinations.

For Downtown Destinations

Commuter Connection logo

The Yale Shuttle and the Commuter Connection Service provide service between both train stations and downtown destinations.

For information on access to train stations at your place of origin, contact the local transit authority or town/city government where the train station is located. Some towns offer commuter connection services and most manage parking arrangements at the train stations.

Transit between Your Home and Your Train Station

Some train stations have transit service that provides connection between commuters' homes and the train station. This is especially useful in those towns that have insufficient parking at their train station. For maps and schedules:

Guaranteed Ride Home and Free Parking Benefit

All Yale employees registered for carpools, vanpools, or riding transit are eligible for Yale's Guaranteed Ride Home, and to receive three (3) free daily parking permits per month.

Save Money

Employees: enroll in Yale's Online Commuter Benefits program to pay for your train fare with tax-free dollars.
