Application Checklist

Admissions deadline is Friday, January 2, 2009. The program begins June 1, 2009.

Submit a completed online application:

  1. Three letters of recommendation:
    • one letter that explicitly addresses your subject knowledge in the area you wish to teach
    • two letters that speak to why you would make an effective urban teacher
  2. Test scores:
    • GRE General Test scores, reported to Yale at 3987
    • Praxis II scores, reported to Yale at 3987
    • If you are not a native English speaker, TOEFL or IELTS scores
  3. Three uploaded documents:
    • Personal Statement
    • Urban Teaching Essay
    • Resume
  4. Official transcript(s)
  5. Application fee of $85. Participants in the Institute for the Recruitment of Teachers and recipients of the Rockefeller Brothers Foundation Fellowship automatically qualify for fee waivers. For information on fee waiver eligibility, please see the instructions on the Graduate School website.

    • Indication of Praxis I waiver qualifications if applicable (appropriate scores on SAT, ACT, or GRE)
