The Reverend George Berkeley establishes the Berkeley Scholarships for graduate study, the first such scholarships in America. Today, over 62 percent of Yale College students receive financial aid in the form of scholarships, loans, and work-study positions. Yale College admits all students, including international students, without regard to their family’s financial circumstances, and the University is committed to funding the full demonstrated need of all students. “Dr. George Berkeley Bishop of Cloyne,” ca. 1756, by John Brooks after T.
