Since 1989, the focus of Kappa Alpha Theta’s philanthropic work has been CASA, the Court Appointed Special Advocates program. CASA’s mission is to support and promote court-appointed volunteer advocacy for abused and neglected children so that they can thrive in safe, permanent homes.
The Epsilon Tau chapter at Yale engages in a wide range of philanthropic activities, benefiting both CASA and other local charitable organizations and causes; philanthropy is a centerpiece of fraternity life. In addition to formal, chapter-sponsored philanthropic opportunities, members can also solicit the support of their sisters for any project they may be undertaking in the New Haven area.
Examples of activities include weekly work at a local soup kitchen, tutoring New Haven youth, hosting an annual benefit fashion show, hosting an annual block party benefitting CASA, and working with Habitat for Humanity and the Special Olympics.
