She impressed local swimming authorities with her ability to swim 25 yards, unaccompanied by floaties, at the tender age of nine months. From there she was placed into the guppy class at the Wilton Family Y, where she rapidly worked her way past minnow and dolphin, to a coveted spot on the Yale Womens' Swim Team.
