He started swimming during freshman year of high school and has improved steadily each year. Despite missing 8 weeks of training last year from a particularly bad case of mono, he managed to improve his 500 freestyle time by over 26 seconds. This past summer he stayed in New Haven, swimming as much as 85 km per week. This is his first time training year-round.
