Internship Opportunities
This list was put together by the staff of the Yale Sustainable Food Project as a database for those interested in pursuing a diverse set of opportunities in sustainable food. We have not evaluated, certified or contacted all of the places listed and as such can provide no guarantees for what kind of experience one could expect.
We strongly suggest asking many questions when you are evaluating potential internships, and coming to clear agreements with your internship host. The following questions, while not exhaustive, are a good place to start: Will you be paid, and if so, how much? How much time is expected of you? Will your time be more focused on learning or on work? Will room and board be provided? What type of room and board will be provided? Will you be provided any time off?
There are a number of other places to look for internship and apprenticeship opportunities on farms, educational farms, with non-profit organizations, etc. As stated above, we can not certify that each and every internship opportunity listed here will be the right one for you—we are providing it as a resource for you to look through and evaluate on your own. If you are currently a Yale undergraduate, we urge you to apply for the Lazarus Summer Internship here or for a position with the Yale Sustainable Food Project during the academic year.
