Transportation Policy

The Transportation Policy Committee was responsible for making recommendations on a range of issues that relate to transportation demand management, including public transportation, parking, fleet management and alternative transportation.

The Transportation Policy Committee was supported by the work of four sub-committees: Fleet management, Parking management, Alternative transportation and Public transit partnerships.

Committee recommendations took into account: the transportation needs and desires of faculty, staff, students, and campus visitors; mutual interests of Yale University and the City of New Haven with respect to transportation policy and infrastructure; funding sources and levels that are realistic and feasible within Yale budgetary policies and constraints; best practices; projected institutional growth; and the teaching, research, and public service missions of Yale University.

As part of the Committee recommendations, a Director of Sustainable Transportation has been hired and will begin in May of 2007. More information to follow...

For more information see the Transportation Policy Committee Charter.
