Creative Writing
The recently revamped Courses in Writing program provides college-level writing courses for credit and a summer writing experience comparable to a writers' conference. In addition to their classes in Fiction, Investigative Journalism, Arts Criticism, Narrative, Screenwriting, and Lyric, students will meet with instructors in individual conferences and discuss writing with nationally recognized guest writers. Students attend readings by our special guest writers, and participate in a raft of literary events ranging from the famed New Haven Arts & Ideas Festival to a weekly cabaret at which they can read their own work alongside summer faculty and members of Yale's writing community. |
DEADLINE for applications extended to APRIL 21!
Application to the writing courses requires a typed sample of creative work in a relevant genre. Please submit copies of these samples; the Courses in Writing program cannot return the submissions of students not accepted. Critical essays and term papers should not be submitted. Complete applications must be received by April 1. Decisions will be mailed by April 18. Applications received after April 1 will be processed on a space-available basis.
