Student Life in Mombasa

Housing and Meals

Students enrolled in HIST 375/AFST 274 will share apartments with 2-3 classmates for three weeks of the program and will be placed with a local homestay for one week of the program. During one week of travel to Nairobi and the Kenyan highlands students and instructors will stay in hotels arranged by YSS. Students will eat one meal per day with instructors and the group. This meal is organized by the program. During the homestay two meals will be provided in addition to the group meal.

Information for SWAH 130/140 will be available in January.


Trips and Activities

Excursions for SWAH 130/140 in 2008 included a trip to Malindi and visits to the Gedi and Jumba la Mtwana ruins.
