Mombasa Expenses
Financial AidThe International Summer Award (ISA) is available to eligible Yale College students. Study abroad applicants who want to apply for an ISA should visit the web site before applying to Summer Session in order to determine eligibility for the award. See the Financial Information section on the Summer Session website for more details. Non-Yale students should consult their respective financial aid offices for funding opportunities. Program Fee for HIST/AFSTThe $700 program fee will charged to the student SIS account upon acceptance. The $700 Program Fee includes HTH Study Abroad Health Insurance and course activities/excursions associated with the Mombasa program. HTH provides local 24-hour medical assistance, including the evaluation and monitoring of medical treatment and comprehensive management of evacuations and repatriations. TuitionThe tuition for SWAH 130/140 is $5,300 for 3 Yale credits. The tuition for HIST 375/AFST 274 is $5,100 for 2 Yale credits. Students are responsible for all travel expenses to and from Mombasa, costs of room and board, and all other expenses beyond tuition. Housing in MombasaStudents enrolled in HIST 375/AFST 274 will share apartments with 2-3 classmates for three weeks of the program and will be placed with a local homestay for one week of the program. During one week of travel to Nairobi and the Kenyan highlands students and instructors will stay in hotels arranged by YSS. Students will eat one meal per day with instructors and the group. This meal is organized by the program. During the homestay two meals will be provided in addition to the group meal. Information for SWAH 130/140 will be available in January.
