Students have the unique opportunity to enroll in one of two eight-week courses of study in Portuguese language and culture. The courses, Elementary Portuguese for Romance Language Speakers and Intermediate Portuguese/Introduction to Brazil will be led by Yale faculty. Students take the first two weeks of the courses in New Haven and take the last six weeks in Brazil. In addition to two weeks in Paraty during the International Literary Festival, students will spend a month with home stays in Rio de Janeiro as part of the program.

Passport Reminder

In order to travel internationally, you will need a passport and visa. Make sure you have applied for your passport long before your experience abroad. Apply to the Brazilian consulate of your home area for a visa, or use the NY consulate with a Connecticut address.
