Dark Nights and Doubt within our Faith: Understanding the Meaning and the Invitation of our Faith Struggles
Doubt and darkness do not necessarily mean that we are struggling with faith. They can just easily mean that we are struggling inside our imagination and that God is purifying us. What is faith and why does it sometimes feel like its opposite? Dark nights of doubt – their origin, their meaning, and their invitation.

Saint Thomas More Chapel is pleased to welcome Rev. Ronald Rolheiser, OMI to deliver the 2010 More House Lecture, entitled Dark Nights and Doubt within our Faith, on Friday October 2, 2009 at 5:00pm.
The More House Lecture has been an annual event since 1962 where Rev. John Courtney Murray, S.J., delivered the inaugural lecture: The Problem of God. Since that time distinguished theologians have spoken on topics of christology, ecclesiology, social justice, literature and spirituality to advance Catholic intellectual discourse on the campus of Yale University.
Father Rolheiser, a Roman Catholic priest and member of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate, is president of the Oblate School of Theology in San Antonio, Texas. He is a community-builder, lecturer and writer. His books are popular throughout the English-speaking world and his weekly column is carried by more than sixty newspapers worldwide. Among his books are Holy Longing, The Restless Heart, and Forgotten among the Lilies.
