Splatter!, Fall 2000

Welcome!

Welcome to Splatter Magazine online! Splatter is a Yale student organization that leads creative writing workshops in New Haven middle schools. Twice a year, we publish Splatter Magazine, a collection of student poetry, fiction, essays, and visual art. Currently, Yalies are excited for the Spring 2007 semester of Splatter. Over the course of the term, we'll be asking middle-schoolers questions and prompts to inspire creative thought. In response, New Haven students will use writing and art to consider questions like these:

  • Who am I?
  • If I could have a superpower, what would it be?
  • What superpowers do I already have?
  • What is the opposite of " opposite "?
  • At what age should Americans be able to vote?
  • If I could relive a single day in my life, which would it be?
  • What would I do differently the second time around?
  • What goes on in a day in the life of my shoe?
  • What should people be doing differently to improve today's world?
  • What do I wish for?
  • What are my goals?
  • What matters to me?

In the past few years, some of these responses have found new, creative venues, including raps, guitar music, and unusual poetic forms.

Splatter is always looking to expand its reach. Do you work with middle-school age kids? Are you a Yale student who would like to volunteer? Do you have other ideas about how Splatter can do more and be more effective and efficient? If so, please click contact us and share your thoughts!
