By now, you may have thought about your audition somewhat, are probably stressing out, and don't know what to sing or what to prepare.
Relaxthe audition process is easy if
you know what to expect. First, you'll meet all the guys. Then we'll warm you up with a few scales and exercises. Next, you'll sing one of the parts to "Aura Lee" in a quartet with three Spizzwinks(?) on the other parts.
Definitely check out the music on our web site
ahead of time.
For the most important part of the audition, you'll sing the solo you prepared, which can be anything in the worldwe've heard everything from "Rubber Ducky" to "Oh, Canada!" This is your chance to shine!
Afterwards, our Rush Managers will sign you up for rush meals with the guys. These are a chance for you to get to know us better, and vice versa.
You can sign up to audition for the Spizzwinks(?) at the Dwight Hall Jam on Friday, September
8th. Look for the Spizzwinks(?) table after the show to sign up for an audition. Hope to see you soon!
The Key to Success: Remember, rushing any group is easy if you're prepared:
1.Practice singing scales
and check your pitch with a piano.
Try to connect the pitches as
smoothly as possible. Test your
falsetto, and try switching in and
out of it smoothly.
2.Practice "Aura Lee"
with as smooth and light a tone as
possible—you want to blend with the
other singers. Practice along with
the recording of the full quartet,
so you can get used to hearing the
other parts while you sing. If you
can, find three other singers and
practice in a quartet. Encourage
them all to rush the Spizzwinks!
3.Choose your solo wisely: remember, this is our only chance to really hear what you sound like on a prepared solo. Show off what your voice can do, but make sure your voice can do it reliably.
4.Take care of your voice in the days leading up to your auditionyour voice is sensitive to sickness, time of day, what you ate, the weather, and many other small things. Drink a lot of water and avoid dairy products and carbonated beverages before your audition.
5. Most
of all, Relax! We're all rooting for
you! See you there.
