Areas of Interest: Contemporary Latin American literature, Caribbean literature, US Latino literature, Comparative literature, and Critical theory.

He has published articles in journals such as Hispanic Review, Revista Iberoamericana, and Latin American Theatre Review, in topics ranging from Caribbean literature, the ethics of authorship, violence and theater, and the Post-Boom. Work in progress includes a book manuscript tentatively entitled, Post-Boom Ethics: The Politics of Authority and Self-Representation in the Contemporary Spanish American Novel, as well as studies on science and imperialism in the Caribbean, and cultural representations of death and necrophilia in Latin America.
