Research interests: State building and the Middle East, transition from Empire to the nation state, national identities,citizen-state relations, comparative historical and political sociology.
Bio: From Houston, Texas. Graduated from Emory University in 2010 with a BA in Middle Eastern studies. Spent a year in Cairo on a Center for Arabic Study Abroad Scholaship at the American University in Cairo. Participated in Critical Language Scholarship in Amman, Jordan. Entered Yale University in political science department as a comparativist.
