ACLS New Faculty Fellow, Postdoctoral Fellow and Lecturer
Matthew Mahler is an ACLS New Faculty Fellow. He received his PhD from Stony Brook University in 2011. His general interests are in the areas of political and cultural sociology, classical and contemporary theory, ethnographic methods, and embodiment. He is currently working on a manuscript, based on over two years worth of ethnographic fieldwork, which analyzes the everyday realities of professional political life in the United States. More specifically, this research examines the unique sensibilities and forms of “skillful coping” that politicos develop through their membership in the universe of politics.
