
Joseph Slifka Center for
Jewish Life at Yale, home to Yale Hillel and Young Israel
House at Yale, is a self-supporting non-profit that
serves Yale students, faculty and staff, and the greater
New Haven community, by providing cultural, intellectual
religious and social programs. Kosher food, guest
lectures, classes, concerts, art exhibits, film
festivals, teas, study breaks, Israeli dance classes,
conferences, holiday celebrations, and religious services
are among the activities regularly sponsored at the
center.

Joseph Slifka Center for Jewish Life at Yale currently
serves over 4,000 people each year in a variety of ways.
It enhances Jewish life on campus by:
· introducing and raising
awareness of Jewish culture and observance
· offering classes in Jewish culture and history, along
with instruction in Yiddish, Hebrew and Arabic
· developing a living connection to Israel, and fostering
cooperative relations with people and organizations both
within and beyond the Jewish community at Yale, in New
Haven, the U.S.A., and the world
· helping students develop a social conscience shaped by
Jewish values
· providing an enduring link between undergraduate and
graduate students, parents, faculty, and alumni
