Applicants are encouraged to identify and contact ladder faculty members they would wish to work with if accepted to the program. The Students page includes advisors by subject area. Or click here for a list of the School's faculty and their research interests.

All applicants are strongly urged to compete for outside fellowships which can be used at Yale. These fellowships are sponsored by both public and private agencies and are often more generous than those awarded by the University. In addition to their financial advantages, distinction is conferred on a student who wins an award in a national or international competition. Please see Funding.

  • Most fellowship application deadlines are in early to late November.

Doctor of Forestry & Environmental Studies (D.F.E.S.)
In the 2003-2004 academic year, the D.F.E.S. program merged with the Ph.D. program. The D.F.E.S. program will continue to exist until all its current students complete the program. No additional students will be admitted to the D.F.E.S. program; new students will be admitted to the Ph.D. program.
