The Yale Summer Medical and Dental Education Program (SMDEP) has invited Bapak Waleed to lead a Wellness Program for this summer's participants. The Wellness Program will take place on Thursday, June 25, at 7pm, in The Anlyan Center (TAC) Auditorium & Foyer. If you would like to participate, contact us by email. The next SMDEP Wellness Session will be Tuesday, July 1, at 3:30pm; meeting in the Harkness Lounge.
Upon his return to the United States in June 2008, Bapak Waleed had several appointments with the members of the Indonesian Consulate General in New York. Bapak Waleed regularly reports on his progress, programs, and activities to the Consulate. MIT's Balinese Gamelan Ensemble, Gamelan Galak Tika, will give a free concert on the New Haven Green on Sunday, June 15, at 7pm, as part of the Annual International Festival of Arts & Ideas.

The Yale Indonesia Forum and Southeast Asia Studies Council present a Workshop on "Narrative, Memory, and History in Indonesian Arts, Media, and Culture" this Saturday, April 12, from 11:30-5:30 in Luce Hall. The workshop will feature three panel discussions focusing on questions on the nature of interplay between culture, identity, and modernism in Indonesia. iDANCE for Global Health at Yale University brought together students from around the University community to support global health groups run by Yale students and alumni. The event was part of Global Health Week at Yale, which also held a week of events in February, including lectures, discussions, and a symposium with student research posters and presentations. The Yale University Council on Southeast Asia Studies hosted its annual Spring Festival on Saturday March 1, at Luce Hall. The Bali Extravaganza featured performances by the Gamelan Dharma Swara and Balinese Dance Troupe from the Indonesian Consulate in New York. The event attracted audience members from around the University, the community, and from as far away as New Jersey.
While Bapak Waleed spent some time in New Haven, he visited David Heiser, Head of Education and Outreach at the Yale University Peabody Museum of Natural History, to present him with a Certificate of Appreciation. On Saturday, January 26, 2008, the Gamlean Suprabanggo, Javanese Gamalen at Yale, held its "Inaugural Yale University Concert" at Battell Chapel. When Bapak Waleed returned after spending most of 2007 in Indonesia, he came to Yale University and led an Introductory Indonesian Dance Workshop on campus, during January 2008. During the Workshop he covered the basics of Indonesian Dance, along with the connections the Dances make with other aspects of the cultural arts of Indonesia and Southeast Asia...
