Previous Tours

In Spring 2007, Shades traveled to New Orleans, Louisiana and performed at local churches and schools. On an overnight trip to Baton Rouge, Shades got to experience its first crawfish boil and visit Southern University and perform at Louisiana State University.

In January of 2004 and again in March of 2006, Shades traveled to Puerto Rico with the help of Jan D'Esopo and worked with the Ronald McDonald Foundation to sing at a hospital and a battered women's shelter.

Shades toured Japan both in the spring of 2004 and the spring of 2005. Performances included a benefit concert to rebuild the recently burned-down Christ's Church in Yokohama, concerts at several international schools and restaurants/clubs, and a concert in the world-renowned Harajuku shopping district of Tokyo at Gloria Chapel.

In August of 2003, Shades was invited to Phokeng, South Africa, to sing for the enthronement ceremony of Kgosi Leruo Molotlegi, King of the Royal Bafokeng Nation. The group's performance at a soccer stadium of over twenty thousand included former president Nelson Mandela and the royal family of Botswana.

Shades also tours annually in Boston, Massachusetts, and stays at the wonderful home of Mr. Peter Thorne and Mrs. Katherine Gross. The generosity of the Thorne family has made this Shades tradition possible since 1992.
