How does being a freshman counselor affect my award?
Counselor Room and Board credits will reduce your Self Help, and Student Income Contribution as much as allowed by the federal calculation. The remainder may be treated as an off campus job, providing that the total of your financial aid, including the counselor room and board credits, does not exceed the cost of attendance. If you are receiving a Pell Grant, we recommend you discuss your award with an Assistant Director, and federal rules and regulations may impact the standard treatment of Counselor Room and Board.
