Eco-Friendly
Caps and Gowns
The Cap and Gown Agency is proud
to continue offering
eco-friendly caps and gowns for
students that are made from 100
percent, post-consumer recycled
plastic bottles. This line of
graduation wear, manufactured by
Oak Hall, is named “GreenWeaver".
The fabric is made from spun
molten plastic pellets and the
result is a fabric so
comfortably soft you have to
feel it to believe it! It takes
an average of 23 bottles to make
each gown.
ASA takes pride in its ongoing
commitment in support of the
University’s sustainability
goals and the continuation of “GreenWeaver"
attire for Yale’s Commencement
2013. In fostering “GreenWeaver
on Yale campus, we are hopeful
that this movement will impact
on other Colleges and
Universities in making a choice
to “go green" on their
campuses. For more
information and details on “GreenWeaver”
attire, please visit the Oak
Hall website at: http://www.oakhalli.com/greenweavermovement.php
You may donate your gown to a
non-profit organization in the
greater New Haven area by
placing it in designated bins at
residential colleges or the
Associated Student Agency
office.

FAQs
Q. How
can a student pay for her/his
commencement attire?
A.
Students can order online at www.yale.edu/sis
and pay by credit card or student
charge (for those students who
currently have the privilege of
charging designated goods and services
to their student accounts, charging
will be available to them until 4 pm
on April 1). Payments can also be made
by check and cash and returned to the
ASA office with the completed order
form; if paying by cash, students must
come directly to the ASA office.
Q.
What if I am graduating with two
degrees?
A. The
official policy is that you can only
wear one hood for commencement. You
will have to decide which hood to
order (usually that of the higher
degree).
Q.
What if I can't pick up the gown
myself?
A. If
you are unable to pick up your attire
at any of these times, you must make
arrangements for someone else to pick
it up for you. The person who is
picking up your attire must present
their Yale I.D. (or a valid official
photo I.D.) with a note and your
signature giving them permission to
pick up your attire.
Q. Where can
I find more information about
commencement?
A. Go to www.yale.edu/commencement.
