What to Do in an Emergency

Suspicious Package

1. Typical characteristics of a suspicious letter or parcel include: [www.usps.gov]
   1. Excessive Postage, no postage, or non-cancelled postage.
   2. No return address or obvious fictitious return address.
   3. Packages that are unexpected or from someone unfamiliar to you.
   4. Excessive tape.
   5. Improper spelling of addressee names, titles or locations.
   6. Packages that are addressed to someone no longer with your organization or otherwise out-dated.
   7. Rigid or bulky, lopsided or uneven.
   8. Unexpected envelopes from foreign countries.
   9. Restrictive markings.
      
      
2. Do not touch, move or open object.
   
   
3. Treat item as suspect.
   
   
4. Isolate area.
   
   
5. Evacuate immediate area.
   
   
6. DO NOT USE CELL PHONE- signal could detonate bomb.
   
   
7. Call Police
   1. Dial 911 or
   2. 432-4400
   3. Press the red button on a blue phone
      
      
8. Request immediate assistance and follow instructions of emergency personnel
