H1N1 Flu

RE:        H1N1 Flu

As you know from Linda Lorimer’s recent email, plans are in place to care for our students who contract the flu.  Public health officials have cautioned that there may be many more cases of the flu than usual this season.

Students who become sick will need to stay in their rooms or at home until they have recovered.  I encourage you to be as flexible as possible with any students who miss class because of the flu.

Depending on the particular courses you are teaching this semester, you may be able to allow students to submit assignments electronically or you may consider providing specific “make-up” assignments should they become ill.

If you develop flu-like symptoms, please consult YUHS or your personal physician and stay home until 24 hours after your body temperature has returned to normal on its own without medication.  You may need to cancel or reschedule a class, but it is important that you remain away from campus until you are well.

Although we hope the flu will not be widespread, we thank you for helping us to prepare now in case of absences, either of students or faculty.
