Overview
The Office of the Secretary and Vice President for Student Life is responsible for institutional governance issues and oversees University-wide policies and procedures for student life at the University. Also, the office coordinates all of the University's major ceremonial events, including Commencement, Baccalaureate, Freshman Assembly and Veteran’s Day. The office also supports the Yale Corporation and University Council as well as other governance bodies as needed. Kimberly Goff-Crews was appointed Secretary of the University and Vice President for Student Life in August 2012.

The Secretary's Office provides support for the Yale Corporation & University Council, coordinates Commencement and other academic ceremonies, and processes all diplomas for the University.
The Office’s main focus at Yale is to further cultivate a chaplaincy for students, faculty and staff which defines itself by serving the needs of the richly diverse religious and spiritual traditions on campus.
The Student Life office leads initiatives that have implications for students University-wide including but not limited to health services, dining, housing, transportation, and athletics.
