"Indonesia, Open for Business: Opportunities and Challenges in Indonesia's Investment Climate"

Satiriantinah Bur Rasuanto, Yale World Fellow 2011; Chief of Staff, Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board

Indonesia has come extremely far since the Asian Financial Crisis over a decade ago. It has turned into a confident middle income country, with a stable macroeconomic condition, strong growth and a vibrant democracy. President Obama last year called Indonesia 'a hidden gem' - this talk discusses how it will not be "hidden" for much longer. With its increasing global standing - it is the only Southeast Asian country that is a member of the G20 countries - Indonesia has increasingly become the most sought after investment destination in Asia.

As Chief of Staff to the Chairman of the Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board, Satiriantinah Bur Rasuanto helps shape Indonesia's development agenda and formulates strategies to increase investment flows into the country. She played a critical role in the Board's new responsibility for public-private partnerships on large infrastructure projects totaling more than $5 billion in investments. Previously, as an Operations Officer and Special Assistant to the Country Director of the World Bank in Jakarta, Rasuanto devised national strategy for World Bank activities in Indonesia and co-managed World Bank-funded infrastructure projects. She is a 2011 Yale World Fellow.
