Professor Conklin received his Ph.D. from Yale in 1955 and joined the faculty in 1962. During his tenure at Yale, he served as chair of the Department of Anthropology, chair of the Council on Southeast Asia Studies, and director of the Division of Anthropology at the Peabody Museum of Natural History.
