Dinny Risri Aletheiani

Dinny Risri Aletheiani has taught Indonesian language at all levels, initially as a language instructor and developer of curriculum at Margi Alit Language Course in Salatiga, Indonesia from 2005-2006 (teaching international visitors, expatriates, volunteers, and students), and as a Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant at the School of International Letters and Cultures, Arizona State University during the academic year 2007-2008

She served as an Assistant Resident Director/Project Officer for the Study Abroad to Indonesia Program by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, and was a collaborative author of Critical Language Scholarship Program, Malang Indonesia (2010), a handbook published by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Between 2008 and 2010 she taught Linguistics courses, the Indonesian language, and developed curriculum and instructional design for hybrid (face-to-face and online) Indonesian courses at all levels at Arizona State University. She has been working closely with and advising both undergraduate and graduate students on their research projects dealing with several topics on Indonesia, to name a few: global health, religious studies, globalization, and education. She also served as an instructor and Teaching Intern/Assistant at Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College, Arizona State University from 2010-2013 teaching courses on Curriculum Theories, Social and Cultural Pedagogy, Schooling and Cultures, Alternative Schooling and Free Schooling, and Multiculturalism.

Ms. Aletheiani earned her B.Ed. in English Language Education from Satya Wacana Christian University, Salatiga, Indonesia in 2006, and an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction (ESL concentration) from Mary Lou Fulton Institute and Graduate School of Education, Arizona State University in 2010. She is currently completing a Ph.D. in Curriculum Studies at ASU and has provided research assistance in data collection, coding, analysis, archival study, and translation for numerous projects and programs in and outside ASU on, or related to, Indonesia and Education in general. Her academic and research interests are in the area of curriculum studies, curriculum history, Free Schools, language policy, Indonesian language acquisition, learning, and teaching, and Southeast Asia Education studies.

Ms. Aletheiani is currently working with curriculum studies scholars from US, Jamaica, and Korea, sharing research and translation projects on the works of International curriculum Theorists under the American Association for the Advancement of Curriculum Studies (AAACS) Internationalization of Curriculum Studies Task Force. She in particular has been translating, from early Indonesian to English, excerpts of curriculum works written in late 1800 and early and mid 1900 by Ki Hadjar Dewantara, an Indonesian curriculum theorist. She is also working on the analysis of other language policies, and the development of the Yale Indonesian language teaching curriculum, audio and visual and learning materials. She serves as a faculty advisor to the Yale Indonesia Forum (YIF).

Ms. Aletheiani has been an instructor of Indonesian traditional dance since 2008, and has organized and performed in cultural events both on and off campus.
