Christian leaders in every age have found inspiration and renewal in the great works on ministry from the early Church. This course examines the basic principles of Church leadership in such writers as Augustine, John Chrysostom, and Gregory the Great, as well as a book in preparation by the instructor. Topics include the nature,
preparation, and spirituality of Church leadership, the "cure of souls," the theological heart of Christian ministry, and the interpretation and communication of Scripture, or "spiritual exegesis," for use in preaching, teaching, and personal counsel. The course is open to laity, clergy, and aspiring clergy.
