Introduction to SCIPUP

Students for Civic Involvement and Progressive Urban Policy (SCIPUP) seeks to educate Yale undergraduates about New Haven and draw them to active community and political engagement in the city.

The group works with member students to gain the skills to advocate for and create changes in city policy to benefit the citizens of New Haven. Furthermore, the group expects that students will carry over these abilities to their future communities to work for progressive urban policy.

Currently our work focuses on the Living Wage movement and its relation to New Haven. In anticipation of the upcoming revision of the 1997 Living Wage Ordinance, SCIPUP is working with city and non-profit leaders to create a comprehensive overhaul of Living Wage to improve the lives of New Haven residents.
