John Crawford

Biography

John Crawford has his BA and MA from the Yale School of Music, and his Ph.D. in music from Harvard. He has studied in Paris under Nadia Boulanger and at the University of Zurich under Paul Hindemith. Mr. Crawford began his teaching career at Amherst and Wellesley and then spent 24 years at the University of California. He specializes in Schoenberg and Expressionism in music. He has received many honors including a Fulbright Grant to Paris, Harvard's Paine Traveling Fellowship and Boott Prize in Choral Composition, several ASCAP Serious Music Awards, and a grant from the University of California's Creative Arts Institute.
