Safety
Mix auditions potential members at the very beginning of every
academic year. Beforehand we perform at Yale's annual comedy
extravaganza, in which each Yale troupe presents a fifteen-minute set
demonstrating its comedic style. We put on our own recruitment show
the following week, and auditions commence shortly afterwards.
We hold four audition sessions, open to any and all students interested
in comedy. After briefly introducing the basics of improvisation, we
invite auditionees to play some of our games, keeping the proceedings
as fun and informal as possible. After the four sessions we post a
list of callbacks. The callbacks then return for another round of
games, this time more intensive than before.
But you say you've never improvised before? No problem! We
absolutely
encourage neophytes to attend. Most of our current members cut their
proverbial teeth at the audition!
