Men of the MatchPicturesTeam PhotosMore Photos Courtesy of Paddy Cashin Photography Match SummaryWritten by: Coach Jan Pikul After going down 12-0 at half, Yale dominates all aspects of the game in the second half and defeats Harvard again...14-12. First half was fairly even in play, but better overall field position and the ablility to take advantage of a couple of mistakes, put Harvard up 12-0 at half. Second half saw Yale dominate possession and field position for the first 30 minutes, and we were able to punch in 2 converted tries to win the match. The last 10 minutes was heart stopping as Harvard was able to gain possession in our half. Then with 7 minutes to go, we had a player sin-binned and played short. A few good scrums and a couple of steals allowed us to stop Harvard. With about 3 minutes left, Harvard attemped a drop goal which got blocked. The forward battle was fairly even throughout the match. Yale's ability to bring in 3 fresh tight five players with 30 miutes left in the game gave us a big advantage. The Yale backs, on a slow muddy pitch, dominated the Harvard backs on defense and really out played them on offense. Special thanks to Ralph Bosch and Mr. Walbridge. |
